Postcards and Thin Paper
Photographs of the reverse side of postcards — the writing, the stamps, the light coming through the paper.
I have kept every postcard sent to me since 2009. For this series I turned each one face down and photographed the reverse against a lit surface, so the writing on the other side becomes a faint ghost.
It is a way of documenting correspondence without exposing the front of the card, which usually belongs to someone else's copyright.
The finished prints are small (10 × 15 cm) and are typically shown as a wall grid.
A folded index sheet listing the cards by decade is included in every boxed set.
